ESA Response to Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)
As the COVID-19 situation continues to evolve, ESA is taking additional precautionary measures to keep the Ontario public and our employees safe.
To that end, ESA has limited operational site visits. More information below:
Newly Built Homes
ESA has been declared an essential service and we are revising our guidance documents to reflect this. We are fully committed to ensuring the continual and safe operation of the electricity delivery system. ESA has a responsibility to protect Ontarians from electrical harms, including owners of newly built homes.
There are a number of ways that this can be accomplished, all of which were in place prior to Covid-19, and will continue to be used during the restricted period over the next few months. Learn more below:

We are also applying some additional measures:
- ESA closed its offices to the public, effective Monday, March 16 until further notice.
- ESA has cancelled all training/ME exams/large gatherings/conferences/networking events until the end of April.
- ESA is suspending all business air travel, including domestic.
- ESA’s stakeholder engagement activities, including Advisory Councils, will be conducted over conference call or webinar until the end of April. Please contact your ESA representative to get further direction.
ESA will continue to monitor and provide updates related to COVID -19 as circumstances change.
